Microblading Eyebrows Aftercare: Everything You Need to Know

Mirai Skin Clinic 18 May 2026 3 min read
Congratulations on your new microblading eyebrows! The procedure is done and your brows look absolutely stunning. But here's the thing — the aftercare is just as important as the procedure itself.

Proper aftercare determines how your brows heal, how vibrant the colour stays, and ultimately how long your microblading results last. Follow these guidelines carefully and your brows will look beautiful for 12–18 months.

DAY 1-3: THE CRITICAL PHASE

In the first 72 hours, your brows are at their most vulnerable. The skin is open and healing, which means you need to be extra careful.

What to do:
- Blot the brow area gently with a clean cotton pad every hour to remove any lymph fluid. This is completely normal.
- After blotting, apply a tiny amount of the healing balm we provided.
- Keep the area completely dry — no water on your brows whatsoever.

What NOT to do:
- Do not wet your brows during showering. Use a face shield or lean your head back.
- Avoid makeup near the brow area.
- Do not touch your brows with unwashed hands.
- Stay out of the gym — sweating can interfere with healing.

DAY 4-7: THE SCABBING PHASE

Around day 4, your brows will start to feel itchy and you'll notice small scabs forming. This is completely normal and means the skin is healing beautifully.

IMPORTANT: Do not pick at the scabs. This is the most common mistake clients make and it can pull out the pigment, leaving patchy results.

Continue applying your healing balm twice daily — once in the morning and once before bed.

DAY 7-14: THE GHOST PHASE

Around day 7-10, the scabs will naturally fall off and your brows may suddenly look much lighter or patchy. Don't panic! This is called the 'ghost phase' and it's completely normal.

The pigment has temporarily sunk deeper into the skin and appears lighter. Over the next few weeks, the colour will rise back up and settle into the beautiful shade we created.

DAY 28-42: THE TOUCH-UP

At your 4-week touch-up appointment, we'll fill in any areas where the pigment didn't take perfectly, adjust the shape if needed, and ensure you're completely happy with your results.

LONG-TERM CARE

- Apply SPF 30+ sunscreen over your brows when outdoors. UV rays are the number one cause of premature fading.
- Avoid retinol or glycolic acid near the brow area — these exfoliants accelerate fading.
- Stay hydrated and maintain a healthy skincare routine.
- Book your annual touch-up to keep your brows looking fresh and defined.
